In recent years, through digital data processing and calculation, numerous painting images in the art history can be re-experienced, transformed into other levels of experience, or once again given new meanings. 《Painting’s Layer of Derivative》 is a series of works that I developed in 2020. I used electronic chips and parts, motor components, hardware materials and RGB LED arrays to assemble multiple image interfaces. Through programing, these interfaces allow the painting images to be reorganized in the limited memory of the electronic chip, and undergoes pixel-flow, pixel-dislocation, gradation, and replacement. Some motors are combined to generate experimental and dynamical viewing experiences. I suggest this interface a “derivative layer”: a state of painting with great autonomy, timeliness and performance.
This series will be displayed at D/S ONE (電幻1號所) in Banqiao District, New Taipei City. between 8th March and 28th September, 2021.
