Flower of Time: Generative Visualisation (2017)

Flower of Time: Generative Visualisation (2017) is an abstract visualisation of time. It is designed to show the viewer the abundant colours and formations that time readings could generate — every second has a unique visual expression.

Compared to Flower of Time V.1 (2013), this work further provides an interactive interface for the viewers to explore detail information of each flower and also understand how the colours and formations are generated. Flower of Time: Generative Visualisation (2017)turns the hour, minute and second readings into colours and formations of flowers by a method of data mapping, which is a common technique used in data visualisation. Each flower has 12 colours, all of which are calculated by simple formulas using the readings of hour, minute and second. Therefore, Flower of Time: Generative Visualisation (2017) is a “generative” visualisation that gives each second a unique visual expression.

《時間花-即時生成性視覺化》(2017)延續了時間花系列創作,目的在於透過數位演算法,將時間數據(時、分、秒)所能衍生出的豐富性表現出來,每一秒被賦予了獨一無二的視覺與造型,用以隱喻時間的一去不返以及每一秒鐘的珍貴性,也意圖彰顯時間在人類感知所看似規律的表象下,所隱含的多樣和可能性。相較於前一版本,此版本多了互動介面,供使用者探索每一朵花的顏色運算細節,也可以理解、比較不同演算方法的差異性。
